COVID-19 CLINIC PROTOCOL

Dear valued clients and friends,

We understand that our community has many concerns relative to the spread of Covid-19 (Coronavirus).  According to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO), there is no evidence that companion animals can be infected with or spread COVID-19.

As a medical provider, Islands Veterinary Clinic will continue to provide urgent care and non-elective procedures for your pets.  Based on our governor’s recommendations for shelter in place, we are scheduling routine well-care visits 2 weeks out until further notice. Out of abundance of caution and for the safety of our clients and staff, we are implementing the following guidelines:

  • Social Distancing measures:
    • We ask that you please remain in your vehicle and call us to notify that you’ve arrived. One of our staff will come out to you.
    • We MUST remain 6ft away at all times.
    • We will carry out all communications via phone or outside in the open practicing social distancing.
    • Pet owners must remain outside the building at all times.
    • Cats are required to be in carriers (we are happy to lend you one if you don’t own one). Dogs will be handled with our own leashes for safety.
  • Cleaning and Health measures:
    • We are cleaning and sanitizing our facilities with diligence, following all CDC protocols.
    • We ask that pet owners and our staff follow CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of disease: wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after restroom use, blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
    • Any pet owner or staff that has symptoms of respiratory illness (coughing, sneezing, shortness of breath, fever) will be asked to stay home and not come to our clinic until they are fever-free and associated symptoms have cleared for at least 72 hours.
  • Hours of operation:
    • Please be advised we are operating on limited hours Monday-Friday. If possible, call before noon for same day urgent care.
    • Food and pharmacy refills may be left outside for you if you call ahead and arrange for pick-up and payment.
    • Please allow at least 48 hours for online pharmacy requests.
    • Please consider using our online pharmacy- Vet Source, our trusted partner for any ongoing food, supplements, or medications when possible.
    • For emergencies outside our clinic hours please contact
      • Mount Vernon Pet Emergency Center (360) 848-5911
      • Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle (425) 697-6106
      • Animal Emergency Care- Bellingham (360) 758-2200

The wellness of you, your pets, and our staff is our number one priority.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.
